Staying Relevant in an Increasingly AI-Enabled World
Kim Ehrman
The large language models that have generated a lot of recent buzz lately have a limitation: they don't have a guiding set of principles, beliefs, and insights that they compare new information to. They don't have mental models, guiding frameworks, definitions of truth. Rather, they draw patterns between copious amounts of data, which can often point to true things but are subject to challenges with poor or misleading source data. This is an opportunity for us humans working to excel in an increasingly AI-enabled world. I believe so strongly in this that I created a notebook based on the template that I've been using for many years to take notes on topics that matter to me. The framework is simple but powerful: focus, understand, and follow through.
Introducing the Michael Collection 2.0
Kim Ehrman
We want to support Ukrainians as they fight for freedom, security, and independence. So, we've reframed the Michael collection: our founder Kim will now donate 50% of the purchase price of products throughout this collection to UNITED24, the official fundraising platform for Ukraine.
Introducing Buttons
Kim Ehrman
I've been thinking about extending the Lavender Finch product lines in fun and meaningful ways. The goal is to add products that are still within the fresh sentiments + paper products space, that harmonize rather than clash with greeting cards, and can be locally produced (either at my home or my local print shop). Here's the first one: pin-on buttons!
Dad Was Right
Kim Ehrman
It's been one year since I quit my job with only a brand-new greeting card business to show for it. Reflecting on the experience, I have to admit that Dad was right in the lessons he's taught me over the years: invest in yourself and be in the core part of the business. I'd add to this list: be kind to yourself.
